How to PREVENT or REDUCE

Acid reflux is a condition where stomach acids back up into the esophagus. You can alleviate symptoms by correcting your dietary habits and using supplements.

  • Eat smaller, more frequent meals. Make a fist—your stomach and heart are both equal in size to the size of your fist. Consume food portions equal to the size of your fist. Larger meals may cause digestive and elimination ailments.
  • Reduce the amount of caffeine you consume.
  • Reduce or eliminate ALL sodas, acid-forming foods, spices, or hot spicy foods.
  • Avoid combining animal protein foods (dairy, meats, poultry, fish, and eggs) in the same meal as grains (breads, cereals, pasta, chips). This combination causes digestive confusion in your stomach, thus contributing to or generating an acid reflux response.
  • Abstain from consuming fruits with any other foods. Examples: yogurt with fruits, fruits mixed with vegetables, apple pie, fruit in cereal, etc.
  • Abstain from drinking beverages with a meal. Consume beverages one hour prior to or following the meal.
  • Eat slowly and be mindful of your meal. Chew your food thoroughly thirty-two times. This generates healthier digestion and better absorption of nutrients in the small intestine for a healthier you.
  • If you are going to consume unhealthy combinations, then consider administering a quality digestive enzyme (Natural Factors) to be taken at the beginning of the meal.
  • If you have erred and mixed the incorrect foods together, consider administering one to three teaspoons of apple cider vinegar with a small amount of water to be consumed after a meal. This can neutralize acid and potentially prevent acid reflux.

There are additional remedies and approaches to prevent or reverse digestive ailments. Personalized consultation based on your specific body types: differences in body types (gland type, blood type, dosha type, hour of birth, genotype, etc.) can be considered.
